The Latinx student population has risen from 8.8 million to 17.9 million in the last few years, making up almost a quarter of students in U.S. schools, yet there is still a strong education gap. Educators all over the world are working diligently to tailor Latinx students’ education to reflect their cultural needs and prepare them for college and career readiness. In this documentary, Latino Cesar Chavez Academy High School in Detroit and the College Assistance Migrant Program at Michigan State University share their approach to best practices in providing Latinx students with everything they need to pursue higher education.
