The Power Of Religion In Mexico City

Despite being LGBTQ+ and his negative feelings around institutionalized religion, World Nomad Patrick Abboud travels to Mexico to meet the passionate pilgrims who walk on their knees in devotion at the Fiesta of the Virgin of Guadalupe. After speaking to some of those making the pilgrimage, Pat is humbled by their devotion and commitment to something they believe in, and questions his own judgments. Around 8 million people make this annual pilgrimage to offers thanks to Mexico’s patron saint. In a carnival atmosphere, food is given away, religious souvenirs are sold and people camp out to pay their respects to the saint.
