Mental Health Awareness Month Is Almost Over – For Many It Never Ends

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month and this year’s theme is #4Mind4Body, promoting the balance of mental and physical health. While it is important to bring special attention during this time, it is something we should be focused on every day, all year around.

Common mental health issues include anxiety, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders and schizophrenia. What they have in common is making it difficult or impossible for people to work, function in daily activities or engaging in healthy personal relationships.

For most people it is hard to open up and talk about something as personal as your own feelings and mental health. When public figures or celebrities talk about their own mental health struggles, it can spark important discussions, help remove stigma and and inspire people to seek treatment.

These 28 celebrities were willing to talk candidly about their own struggles, and you can read all about it here.

Take a quiz to see how much you know about the state of mental health in the US.
