Meet Adhara Pérez, An 8-Year Old With an IQ Higher Than Einstein

Adhara Perez speaking on stage

Adhara Perez may only be just eight years old, but her brain intelligence has catapulted her into a realm beyond any young child’s imagination.

Perez, who possesses an IQ of 162, now rises to the intellectual ranks equal to geniuses including Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking. Her passion for science and math has led her to enroll in courses on gravitational waves and observational astronomy at the prestigious Astronomy Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Furthermore, she has already been invited to study mathematical patterns under a program funded by the University of Massachusetts, according to El Universal

And it doesn’t just stop there: the eight-year already has ambitions to become a scientist and astronaut working for NASA.

Yet, being different from others comes at a price. Children and teachers mocked Perez for being “weird” because she lost interest in curriculum that was not challenging enough.

“When Albert Einstein was young, they didn’t believe him; they thought his ideas were foolish, but with time he proved them and that is why Adhara likes this character,” says Nayeli Sanchez, Perez’s mother.

Perez’s remarkable intelligence is also contrasted with a burden of mental and physical disabilities. She was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder when she was only three. When she was four, she experienced a severe seizure, followed by a temporary loss of mobility in her hands.

Sanchez notes Perez’s struggles parallel with those of scientist Stephen Hawking and uses him as inspiration to Perez motivated to fulfill her dreams.

“Adhara followed the example of Stephen Hawking; she said that despite having a disability, that didn’t keep him from achieving great things,” Sanchez says.

Until then, give Ms. Perez a few more years. With the potential she holds, when we can expect only the most extraordinary…
