Why so many hurricanes?

WHO. Us, the world. We are the world. We are the children.

WHAT. We’re sorta killing the planet. You know that round (not flat) pretty thing where we live? Yeah, it’s tired and really wants us to get our s@*! together. According to Panmao Zhai, Co-Chair of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group I, “[…] we are already seeing the consequences of 1°C of global warming through more extreme weather, rising sea levels and diminishing Arctic sea ice, among other changes.” Meaning, Hurricanes Maria, Harvey, Florence, Michael, HK typhoon, Texas floods, CA droughts, should I go on? Earth is struggling and it’s letting us know.

From IPCC Working Group II, Co-Chair Debra Roberts said in a press release, “The decisions we make today are critical in ensuring a safe and sustainable world for everyone, both now and in the future.” I know some of you might be over the words eco-friendly, green or sustainable, so we’ll work with you. Why don’t we start making smarter, super futuristic decisions?

HOW. There are many reasons that have brought us to this point. To be fair, not sure we could’ve predicted the impact all those cool inventions, like cars and planes, or those handy products like plastic bottles, plastic bags, Styrofoam and even diapers would have on the planet. And now, we’re here trying to figure out a way to make things better. Super futuristic better.

You know all the tips you’ve been hearing your whole life…Use reusable shopping bags, drive less, walk more, say NO to junk mail (check out Paperkarma to unsubscribe!), etc. But what products should you shop? Glad you asked. Here’s a list of products that will make you and your home super futuristic. From apparel to cars, we found cool, green and not so crazy expensive options. You might already know a few of them.

I know what you’re thinking. Why do we call them futuristic? Simply because slight changes to our daily routines and switching to products like the ones listed above will allow us to have a future. Period. Oh, and Tesla is kind of the future. So let’s do this people.

WHEN.  Ideally… NOW.  Need a little motivation? Did you know beer is in DANGER?! Yes, sadly, the forecast is barley production will decrease due to climate change. This is a key component for beer which means beer prices might double or, eventually triple. #PrayforlasChelas.
