#EcoTuesday: Free Trees!
LA is giving out trees! Like many cities, Los Angeles is working on greening up the place. Part of their Green New Deal is planting 90,000 trees over the next couple of years. One of the ways they are doing that is by giving them away to qualifying applicants.
Residents can get not 1, not 2, not 3, but up to 7 free trees! Cityplants.org is at the hub of all this, working alongside the LA City Council and a few other nonprofits. Check out the great things they are doing to give LA a green-up!
Residents can practically GrubHub their way to some new foliage for their yards. Go online, pick out a variety of small, medium, and tall trees, and then the trees get delivered to your front door. The only real work is to plant them, but they come with instructions and some helpful items to do so. Please tip your driver.
For size reference, the medium trees can grow around 25-35 feet tall, while the some of the large can get up to around 60-80 feet! That’s some height! The residents have to commit to taking care for them, by giving them a lot of attention the first 5 years. These are young living things that have needs, and they could die if ignored.
If you think this is a great idea, encourage your city council to adopt a similar program! Let us know what you think!
