6.6 Magnitude Quake Rattles El Salvador

Early Thursday morning, the people of El Salvador were startled by a 6.6. magnitude earthquake whose epicenter was located just off the west coast, about 40 km south of La Libertad.
It rippled throughout Central America, and a tsunami warning has been issued. While earthquakes are common in the region, 1986 and 2001 were exceptionally devastating. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported so far.
