Marc Anthony and Bad Bunny Help Rebuild Baseball Fields in Puerto Rico

It’s been two years since Hurricane Maria, but the post-disaster efforts are far from over. Artists Marc Anthony and Bad Bunny have partnered with Local Initiatives Support Corporation to help the communities in Puerto Rico rebuild their baseball fields. Together, not only do they plan on restoring dozens of baseball fields, but also initiate special local youth programs.
In a press release, Marc Anthony writes, “Sports and recreation activities help to restore a sense of normalcy after disasters. Baseball isn’t just a game in this context. It helps young people do better in school and improves family life and health in difficult circumstances.”
Bad Bunny recalls spending time playing sports at some of these parks, which were destroyed during Hurricane Maria.
“In parks similar to these, a lot of great athletes like Roberto Clemente, Yadier Molina, Roberto Alomar, Edgar Martinez, and Ivan Rodriguez grew up,” he says. “Our commitment is to rebuild these parks so that we can help new athletes grow. This is the first step for the rebirth of sports within the island.”
Areas like Yabucoa, Vega Baja, Carolina, and more will be among the lucky few receiving new baseball fields , and completion is expected by sometime in 2020.
