House Votes to Formalize Trump Impeachment Inquiry

The House of Representatives passed a resolution to to formalize the Trump impeachment inquiry yesterday. The vote breaks down to 232 yays and 196 nays. For the full breakdown, see below:

All Democrats voted in favor of impeachment except for Reps. Collin Peterson of Minnesota and Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, citing lack of bipartisan support. Meanwhile, all Republicans voted against impeachment.

Again, it is important to note that this does not mean Trump is impeached, but rather, he is one step closer to impeachment. With the approval from the House to move forward with impeachment, the House of Intelligence Committee will be able to host public hearings as early as the second week of November.
