Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra Make Sundays a Delight

For some, Sundays are for family. And for other, Sundays are for jazz.

You can find the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra spicing things up during their weekly Sunday performances at the Birdland Jazz Club in Midtown New York. Founded by Latinx pianist, composer, and educator Arturo O’Farrill, the large ensemble is part of a nonprofit group called the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, which seeks to “preserve the music and heritage of Afro Latin jazz” through performances and educational programs.

Founder Arturo O’Farrill in an interview with NPR.

The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, once part of Jazz at Lincoln Center, now operates independently on both a national and international level, having performed in renowned concert venues including The Kennedy Center in DC, Boston Symphony Hall, the Megaron Concert Hall in Greece, and the Taichung Jazz Festival in Taiwan.

Tickets for their weekly performances at the Birdland Jazz club can be found here and range from $30 to $40.

Will we see you there this Sunday? Let us know in the comment section below!
