The Missing Emojis
Today is World Emoji Day, and although I hate to admit it, I like using emojis…A LOT.
I just feel like I don’t need to always type “yeah.” It’s lame and unoriginal, so instead I use the classic 👌🏾 or if it’s a “yaaaaasssss”, I’ll drop in a few 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾to express my enthusiasm. While I totally understand that they can become super annoying 😃, inadvertently creepy 🍆and comically graphic 💩🤮, they also create a space for empowerment 🍑and help us to really get the point across 🖕🏾. But still, a few are missing.
Second, as I was texting a friend about the upcoming remake of The Lion King, I realized, to my GREAT dismay, that there is no full-body emoji of a lion. The lion is the muthaf*ckn’ 👑 OF THE JUNGLE 🌴. He deserves to have a full body. Why can we only get his sweetheart lion face? 🦁 NOT. CUTTING. IT.
Next, I was stoked on the skin color update a few years ago but there are still a few #woke emojis that are missing. I need an interracial couple emoji, PUH-LEASE. There was nothing for me to text to friends when I got engaged and married. I tried coloring the skin in on my own but it was so far out of the lines that it looked like we were breaking up. Woof.
I also need inter-hair color-relationship options. According to this article, only 2 percent of people in THE WORLD are natural blonds. So, barely anyone needs these 👨👩👧👧💆♂️👩❤️👩🎅! Where is my bi-racial, green-eyed, blondish-brownish curly-haired girl?!!!!!
I know that, in reality, emojis are tiny cartoon icons that really shouldn’t impact anyone’s life but it’s nice to feel represented in the trends of today’s society.
