Pose: Season 2 Has Arrived In Glorious Fashion
The House of Evangelista is back. Flash forwarding into the ’90s Vogue era, this new season of the FX hit series “Pose,” opens on a somber note reminding us of the escalated AIDS crisis of the time.
According to Avert, “By the end of 1990, over 307,000 AIDS cases had been officially reported with the actual number estimated to be closer to a million. Between 8-10 million people were thought to be living with HIV worldwide.”
That means, quite simply, there is no other show making a greater case for the human dignity of LGBTQIA+ people on television right now. With scorching performances from the entire cast and crew, notably, Indya Moore (Angel) and Billy Porter (Pray Tell), we are bearing witness to something truly significant.
Steven Canals, co-creator of Pose, has established a storytelling vehicle that began revving its engine midway through the first season that has upshifted into a higher gear and we could not be more excited to be cheering from the sidelines.
However, not everyone has the luxury of staying on the bench. As Pray Tell learns in a major way during the opening episode of season 2, showing up on behalf of the voiceless with urgency is a matter of giving oneself the permission to channel grief into powerful agency.
We hope you will join us in watching this beautiful show this second season. Check out the trailer below.
