Karina Garcia: From DIY to Mogul in the Making

Karina Garcia on her YouTube channel.

How many times have you told yourself to “grow-up” when it comes to your career? We tend to assume that finding success requires sacrificing passion, creativity, and most of all: fun. Karina Garcia, the so-called ‘Queen of Slime,’ turned to her knack for craft and discovered a full-fledged career.

Three years ago, she was just one of many millennials coping with the uncertainty of her future. She worked as a waitress on the weekends to make ends meet and help her family.

“It’s crazy because we were living in a 2-bedroom mobile home at the time. We didn’t have a lot. Like, we really struggled growing up…”

But that all changed when her DIY craft tutorials on YouTube tapped into an unexpected niche. She now earns a six-figure income with more than 9 million subscribers eager for her tips on how to create colorful collections of slime!

ABC News got the inside scoop on how this Latinx creative rose to success by following her day dream. She even quit her day job to launch her own toy company, Craft City. Prepare to be inspired, kids!
