Jorge Ramos Is Trending After the #Demdebate

Before asking former Vice President Joe Biden if he feels the deportation of 3 million people during his administration—the most in US history—was a mistake, the Univision anchor spoke directly to Latinos in America. The bilingual journalist told Latinx listeners in English and Spanish, “…that despite the fact that we are facing difficult times, this is our country, too.”

En este país también se habla español” Ramos began, setting the tone for his tough round of questioning regarding immigration, family separation, DACA, and the border wall. Jorge fluidly employed both languages without hesitation, as he said, in this country, Spanish is also spoken.

Tweeters cheered as he pressed the former VP on his record claiming Biden refused to answer questions in the past. “Why should Latinos trust you?” he said. This seemed to be the question on many Latinx minds and Twitter was pleased Jorge was there to give it voice.
