John Legend in “Crow”, Captivates and Inspires
“Crow: The Legend” is an interactive VR 360 animated movie produced by Baobab Studios available in its entirety on YouTube (see below). The project is inspired by the original Native American legend, and is a compelling story about sacrifice and community. Boabab Studios was founded by Eric Darnell (Co-Director of Madagascar & Antz!) and has been working over the last few years to generate innovative and thoughtful content.
The run-time is 20:44. It is kid friendly, inclusive, and an amazing tribute to Native American culture. You can also enjoy the film on your Oculus Rift or Oculus Go devices. Plus, it’s got all your favs (listed below).
Randy Edmonds, Kiowa-Caddo tribal elder and founder of the National Urban Indian Council as Narrator and Sarah Eagle Heart, CEO of Native Americans in Philanthropy, as Luna. Starring John Legend, Oprah Winfrey, Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians), Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One), Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and Liza Koshy.
These new innovations in the AR / VR space have us very excited about the future of animation and digital content. It is also delightful to see the concerted effort placed behind bringing such a powerful narrative to life. For creatives, the intersection of the two will continue to propel us forward as we find new ways to share our stories.
Like my mamá would say, está freaking cool.
