Gina Rodriguez: Woman Enough for her Sensitive Man

Of Gina Rodriguez‘s 3.7m followers, 2.8m have already watched her wedding video since it went live earlier today. From an engagement (pun intended) perspective, it’s wildly popular.

The minute-long glimpse into Gina’s personal life truly delivers. The young couple seems deeply in love.

What I found most touching was Joe LoCicero‘s emotional reaction. And if my group chats are any indication, his “ugly cry” caused a collective “awwww” heard across the pond to rival Prince Harry‘s announcement of the birth of the newest royal baby.

Are men moving towards emotional transparency? If so, will women take kindly to the trend?

A study, conducted by Elite Singles, surveyed 1500 people and found that 90% of women and 85% of men believe society makes it difficult for men to open up about their feelings, much less cry. And yet, 95% of women prefer men who are open with their emotions.

As coupling remains unpopular IRL, with 51% of 18- to 34-year-olds without a steady romantic partner, why is our interest so piqued online? In the digital age, are we busy watching images of connection whilst feeling unable to be intimate with other human beings?

Perhaps getting on the same page re: our emotional capacity and intelligence could reinvigorate unions? Seems to be working for the newlyweds.

Felicitaciones Gina y Joe! Glad you both found “Someone Great!”
