“Atrevete-te-te” Gets an Unexpected Reggae-Urban Treatment
I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard “Atrevete-Te-Te,” since it’s release in 2005. Not to mention the innumerable covers of the popular song over the years (All are awful, BTW). So, imagine my shock when I was listening to Spotify Radio and, all of a sudden, there’s a reggae-urban cover by Pedro Capó.
For those of you not well-versed with Pedro let me hook you up. He just released a summer smash, “Con Calma,” with Farruko and Alicia Keys. As I’ve mentioned before, the song “sets the perfect tone at the start of your week with its reggae-infused beats and Alicia Key’s velvet voice. On top of that, we have Pedro Capó and Farruko that keep the party going.”
With that in mind, let’s get back to Pedro Capó. He released an album in 2017 called “En Letra de Otro” filled with covers of popular Latinx anthems, from “Azúcar Amargo” to “Atreve-Te-Te.” So, imagine how shook I was to learn that this cover has been out for nearly 3 years, and I’ve only recently heard it.
Listen to the cover below, and please, help me with my new campaign #JusticeForPedroCapo because he deserves more recognition.
