What Latinx Students Want You to Know About Their Mental Health

Across the country, young people are increasingly dealing with mental health struggles. They are reporting symptoms of depression more often, and suicidal ideation is becoming more common.
But when it comes to getting help, or even having your symptoms taken seriously, research has shown that what you look like, or more specifically what color your skin is, matters.
“When I began seeing a woman of color therapist, some things were just left unsaid. If I expressed my discomfort in a certain space, I didn’t have to explain that it was because I was a woman of color in that space.”

With major outlets, such as Teen Vogue bringing attention to this issue, we want to take a moment to highlight a wellness resource specifically designed for people of color.
Latinx Therapy is a place where you can search for a therapist who understands your point of view, and the site is a treasure trove of helpful information. If you are feeling overwhelmed and don’t have someone to turn to, then this is for you.
We highly recommend it.
