The Psalms of David: Tammy Lopez

Tammy Lopez speaking slam poetry

This week for National Poetry Month, our featured poet is Tammy Lopez.

Tammy is a Dominican writer and spoken word artist from Brooklyn. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University at Albany. She has won a number of different poetry competitions like slams at the Nuyorican Poet’s Café, The Brooklyn Renaissance Slam, and the Nitty Gritty Slam in Albany. #Aplausos!

Some of her performances last year were the 2nd Annual Bronx Celebration Day (2018), Word Up Community Bookshop (2018) and Project X (2018).  Her energy is contagious and her poems seem like words taken out of our own journals. Watch her reading of “The Best Sex I’ve Ever Had” at last year’s Project X.
