Shibari: The Art of Rope Bondage

Shibari

A report in The Guardian states that, “Shibari originated from Hojo-jutsu, a method of restraining captives and a form of torture, before morphing again into the erotic bondage Kinbaku (Kinbaku-bi literally translates as “the beauty of tight binding”) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.”

In “Cuervas,” documentary filmmaker Marc Ribas, explores the range of sensations modern Shibari participants experience on both ends of the rope. The interviews with Sara Mas, and Javí Ruiz, peel back the layers on the dynamics of the BDSM practice, and give us insight into the emotional connection derived from being tied, and the trust it requires.
