Met Gala 2019 Roundup: Our Favorite Looks
By now you probably saw Lady Gaga and her glorious “camp” entrance with 4 outfit changes on the Pink Carpet, or Jared Leto carrying his head, literally, and the whole Kardashian-Jenner clan. But we want to take a deep dive and show you who really nailed the theme of the night.
According to the New York Times, Camp is a “dress gone so far into the realm of costume that it may never find its way home. It is an unabashed attempt to break the internet. The dress code may have been studied triviality, but its expression was most often extravagant literalism.”
With that in mind, here are our favorites of the night:
Of course, Mother Monster aka Lady Gaga, set us off on the right foot, with this magical performance. So from now on we should refer to the First Monday of May as METGaga.
Billy Porter blessed us with a Cleopatra-like look that basically cleared my skin and cured my depression. Give it all 10s.
Harry Styles. We said it on Twitter, and we’ll say it again: the former boy-band member that everyone wants to put into a heteronormative box came in and crushed the gender game by wearing earrings, heels and a sheer top in the biggest night of fashion. THAT. IS. A. SERVE
Our Latinx ambassador for Camp since day one, Thalia, came in and did her best, and honey, we’re living for this look.
Drag Race reigning queen and the first to walk the Met Gala pink, Aquaria, served us a look.
Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse
Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse absolutely NAILED this year’s theme proving that they deserve to be invited every single year.
Kacey Musgraves does it again, people. She is an LGBTQIA+ ally and icon that has proved she’s here to stay. Elle Woods, is shaking after seeing this look.
This is how you show up to your first Met. Looking flawless, on theme. Pop’s it girl, Dua Lipa, does it again.
Gigi Hadid is, IMO, the only supermodel that did her homework and understood the theme. She clearly talked with her friends from Queer Eye to deliver one of the best looks of the evening.
Ezra Miller did that. We were not expecting anything less from him but still, we never expected this level of serve. He’s giving me Arya with the Three-Eyed Raven face on its way to kill Cersai and I’m here for it.
After seeing Micael Urie in this look, they should’ve closed the pink carpet because he gave us a masterclass on Camp, queer culture, and gender-bending.
And that’s a wrap for #METGaga2019. Did your favs make it on our list? If not, tell us who we missed and why.
