FX and Hulu’s The Weekly Brings Compelling NY Times Journalism to Life

The latest FX and Hulu collab project has gone live on the streaming platform, and the result is one of the most compelling docuseries available via any digital medium. According to the show description on Hulu, The Weekly:

“…brings the unparalleled journalism of The New York Times to the screen for the first time. Each half-hour episode features a Times journalist investigating one of the most pressing issues of the day. With more than 1,550 journalists scattered across 160 countries, the Times produces 2,500 stories a week– investigative reports, political scoops, cultural dispatches. And each week, The Weekly chooses to tell one of these stories in a visual and unforgettable way.”

The first episode, takes a deep dive into the investigation of T.M. Landry, the Louisiana school exposed in a NY Times report back in 2018 for its own college admissions scandal. The school was excoriated for its claims of success in getting students into Ivy League schools. From falsified transcripts to exaggerated claims of hardship, students were molded into an an acceptable image that the underprivileged must typically fit into in order to be given a chance.

Featuring raw interviews with the victims of the school’s intricate system of lies, while shining a light on the culture of corporal punishment and abuse that was prevalent on the campus, The Weekly, builds a case against privilege and illuminates the moral compass of young teens who want nothing more than to succeed. The triumph of their integrity is deeply moving.

We highly recommend watching.

You can catch The Weekly on FX, and is available to stream via Hulu.
